Next Steps
What to Expect
Sunday morning schedule: 9am—Prayer | 9:45 am—Sunday School | 10:55 am—main service
Sunday Morning Questions
-
9:00 am: Prayer Service in the sanctuary | This typically lasts about 15 minutes, and all are welcome to join! You are free to pray as we go around the circle, or to sit and listen to the prayers of others.
9:45 am: Sunday School | If you need help finding a class, grab someone and ask for direction! There are several classes you can choose from, and children of all ages can find their place in a dedicated class as well.
10:55 am: Main Service/Lord’s Day Worship | Service includes Scripture Reading, Prayer, Worship through Song, a Sermon, and The Lord’s Supper occurs on the first Sunday of each month. Service typically lasts til noon or a few minutes after, and we encourage everyone to stay after and fellowship for as long as they like!
-
There is no formal or official dress code. In any given service there will be a mixture of coats and ties while others wear jeans and flannel shirts.
-
We sing a mix of biblically faithful contemporary songs alongside traditional hymns and the Psalms. We use instrumentation (piano, guitar, violin, etc.), but do our best to keep the voices of God’s people as the primary instruments soaring as we worship the Lord.
-
We practice expository preaching, which simply means we try to make the main point of the Scripture the main point of the sermon and point to Christ and His finished work every week.
-
We have the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of each month.
-
Nursery care is provided if needed for children under three years of age. However, as a multi-generational church, we encourage children to participate and be a part of the main morning worship service. We provide activity sheets for the children to follow along at their level, and we encourage parents to teach their children to worship with all of God’s people, regardless of age. For assistance with understanding multi-generational worship services, we recommend this resource.
The Road to Membership
attend & Pray
1
Simple enough! We invite you to attend FBC and worship with us for a while, meet people and make friends, asking God for His will to be done along the way. If you believe the Lord is leading you to join FBC, we can start the short membership process.
New Member orientation
2
This may sound intimidating, but it’s just a low pressure dinner/meet-up with the Pastor to hear your testimony and provide you with an overview of how the church functions, along with the meaning, privileges, and responsibilities of membership.
Congregational Affirmation
3
On a Sunday morning, the congregation will affirm your membership with a hearty, “Amen!” and welcome you to the family. You may join by statement of faith, baptism, or transfer of letter from another Bible believing church.
Serve
4
We don’t want you to be a bench warmer! There are multiple areas in which you can serve at Friendship Baptist Church that allow you to use your God-given gifts for His glory and the good of others: Choir and Music Ministry, VBS, Sunday School, Food Bank Volunteers, local evangelism, world missions, and much more. We would love to help connect you to a vibrant ministry that needs you at FBC.
